Bachelor´s Programme in Bioscience - Molecular Biodesign
Congratulations on being admitted to the Bioscience – Molecular Biodesign programme and the first step to your future career! We'll make sure that your curiosity in life sciences is growing even larger, and together we will study how different biomolecules can be designed and produced for different purposes in life sciences.
You will need to register on the study programme before the programme starts to keep your place on the study programme. You can do that via www.his.se/studentportalen between 6-19th of August. To be able to register you must first activate your user account at www.his.se/aktiverakonto.
If unable to attend
If you do not have the opportunity to be present at the program start, it is very important that you communicate this to me. In addition to this, you also need to register on the study program via the Student Portal at latest August 19th. You will lose your place on the study program if you do not register via the Student Portal.
The programme starts Monday September 3 2018. All new students will meet at the university campus at 09:30 am. You will be welcomed by our Chancellor Lars Niklasson and the President of the student´s union Tommy Borovac.
10.15 you will meet me and your fellow students in house G, room G327.
What happens this autumn?
The programme starts with taking a broad approach to the life sciences. The subject area of the program is introduced in the course "Introduction to Molecular Biodesign". In parallel two courses "Chemistry and Impacts on Environment and Health" and "Biological Life Forms and Function" will introduce you to the chemistry, biological life forms as well and how various environmental toxins effects our environment and health. The following study period you will learn how our cells are constructed and function in the course "Cell Biology" and on the course "Sustainable development" you will study the use of the Earth's natural resources and how you can work with sustainable development at different levels in health and environment. By learning from nature, so called bio-mimicry, you can in many cases find design solutions that can contribute to sustainable development. The courses in the first year provides a foundation for more specialised studies on the programs second year.
