Program Description

Intelligent data analysis and information fusion concern exploiting information from one or multiple sources to support automatic and human decision making. With the advent of new methods for collecting information, the need for automatic and semi-automatic combination and analysis of information for decreasing uncertainty and creating more informative decision support, has increased.

Graduated students will be able to contribute to the development of systems that support decision making in many different kinds of situations, for instance, in pharmaceutical research which aims at determining the causes of and treatment for diseases, and for agricultural applications of applying the right amount of fertilizer or pesticide. The defense industry has for a long time been a domain where information fusion has played an important part. Further exciting application areas include vehicle and robotic industries.

The Master's program also provides a foundation for continued studies and research
within this emerging research field.

This two-year Master’s programme in data analysis and information fusion has a close connection to the established research program at University of Skövde within the area of information fusion from databases, sensors and simulations (http://www.infofusion.se).

Compulsory courses include Information Fusion, Decision support, and Intelligent Data Analysis (learn more about the courses). You will also make an individual course selection among many different courses within the informatics field, such as Information Systems Engineering, Connectionism and Artificial Intelligence, Human-Computer Interaction and Open Source and Distributed Development Models. The programme is completed with a 30 ECTS credit thesis work.

An overview of the relations between courses is shown here.
