City of Skövde

The city of Skövde has about 50 000 inhabitants and is located between the two biggest lakes in Sweden, Vänern and Vättern. Skövde is considered to be a safe city and you are always close to everything; shops, restaurants, entertainment and beautiful nature. With the high speed train you can reach Stockholm within two hours and be in Gothenburg in an hour. This means that you can make profit of the advantages of a small city such as lower life expenses, familiar relations and that it’s easier to find accommodation and still have big city life close by.

The University of Skövde collaborates closely with the municipality and together we have built an environment that supports development of new innovations and growth. A great place to be for a student preparing for the future.

Beautiful nature

In Skövde you will always be close to nature. Our region in the western part of Sweden is well known for its beautiful landscape with wide fields, forests and several lakes. All year around you can practice a wide range of sports, such as skiing and skating in the winter, and canoeing and swimming in the summer. We are very proud of The Right of Public Access (Allemansrätten), which is unique and the most important base for recreation in Sweden. It provide the possibility for each and every one to visit somebody else's land, to take a bath in and to travel by boat on somebody else's waters, and to pick the wild flowers, mushrooms, berries. Swedes live close to the nature and are treating it with respect. Sweden is a leader in environment conservation and works hard for a sustainable development.
