The new influenza – this is how to avoid the spread of contagion

As of next week, alcohol hand gel will be available in all restrooms of the university. This should be used to avoid the new flu from spreading among students and staff.

The new flu A(N1N1) has come to Sweden and is now spreading. The University of Skövde follows recommendations issued by The National Board of Health and Welfare and other authorities in charge.

Next week alcohol hand gel will be provided in all restrooms of the university. In order to reduce the risk of the influenza virus spreading any further, students and staff are urged to use the gel when washing their hands.

Simple measures reducing the risk of the spread of contagion

Wash your hands often

Wash away the flu virus, which easily sticks on fingers and surfaces like door handles, and which can spread when you shake someone’s hands. Use soap and water. Having washed your hands, with the alcohol hand gel you will remove even more of the virus.

Cough and sneeze in the bend of your arm

Capture the virus by coughing and sneezing in the bend of your arm or in a paper towel which you should throw away immediately after having used it. Avoid covering your mouth with your hand when sneezing and coughing.

When sick, stay home

Stay home of you are sick, and you will avoid spreading the flu virus at work, in school, or on the bus. Get in contact with the health authorities by phone rather than going to waiting rooms, where the flu is easily spread.

Any questions about the university’s measures concerning the new flu will be answered by the Personnel and Economics Department.
