Topics of interest for SWIFT 2009 include, but are not limited to:

  • High level information fusion for situation awareness and impact assessment
Situation and threat assessment, intelligence fusion, decision fusion, context-based fusion, ontology-based approaches for high level fusion, knowledge based and probabilistic reasoning in high level fusion
  • Reasoning under uncertainty
Uncertainty computation with Bayesian, fuzzy, evidential, imprecise or interval representation; information dependencies, uncertain association, uncertainty visualization, human decision-making under uncertainty
  • The active role of the user in information fusion
Active role of the user in object identification, tracking, situation & impact assessment, resource management or decision making; HCI, mixed-initiative interaction, user requirements, evaluation of user contributions
  • Information fusion for chemo- and bioinformatics
Fusing molecular descriptors with textual annotations, handling uncertainty, classifier and feature fusion, concept description, analyzing reasons behind predictions
  • Evaluation of information fusion systems
Methods and metrics for comprehensive evaluation; goal dependent metrics adapted to situation, domain context or moment in time; testing for optimality; performance measurement in practical applications
  • Support and infrastructure issues
Middleware and architectures for fusion, pre-processing and association of observations, meta-data, sensor and information modeling
  • Future directions and new application areas
New, promising areas and ideas for information fusion research and applications

We are inviting authors to submit extended abstracts of 3-6 pages preferably with relation to the aforementioned topics. The abstracts may include problem descriptions, possible approaches, preliminary results, and industrial experience.

Accepted peer-reviewed abstracts will be made available in a workshop proceedings (with ISBN number). Submit your contribution (as Word doc or pdf) to swift2009@lists.his.se. Write the following E-mail Subject line:
