The research of the Information Systems Research Group focuses on the development and use of IT systems for supplying information to organizations. In particular, the group seeks to advance the theory and practice of business and information systems development. Organizational as well as technical aspects are considered with the aim to achieve high quality systems that fulfil the needs of their users.
The group has received funding from the EU, VINNOVA, The Knowledge Foundation and other funding organizations.
The group has recently carried out several projects targeting information systems in healthcare, in collaboration with healthcare organizations in the Västra Götaland Region. The projects are concerned with information systems to support healthcare processes where more than one organization is involved in treating a patient. The problem of sharing medical knowledge between experts and nurses in municipal healthcare is also addressed. Another area of concern is information security in health care, particularly in a distributed environment.
A research area under development is Information Services Science, with focus on the development and use of e-services in companies and public organizations.
The main competencies of the group are:
- Healthcare informatics
- Knowledge management systems
- Decision-making and decision-support
- Information Security
- Inter-organizational systems
- Enterprise modeling and conceptual modeling
- Methods for systems development, in particular requirements engineering
- Data warehouses and data mining
- Web engineering
