Student organisations

There are several active student organisations surrounding the university and the International Committee (IC) is the one most exchange students encounter first and most.

International Committee

IC is an organisation run by a board of elected students which main purpose is to integrate exchange students with Swedish students and arrange social activities. The IC is a part of the Student Union here in Skövde and the IC can be reached either by email or their Facebook group.

Student Union

It has for many years been compulsory to be a member of the student union while studying at a university in Sweden, this is however changed from the fall semester of 2010. It is now voluntary to join the student union but as a member you get the right to seek help if you would end up in a conflict with the university, you can join the activities arranged by the Student Union (including the student pub Boulogner) and you will have access to student discounts. The student union has an Internet forum where you can post questions to students in Skövde.

Other student organisations

There are several other organisations for students at the university but some of them are only open for students within a certain field of study. The simplest way to find out if there such an organisation available for you is to ask your host or Swedish classmates upon arrival.
