The position is in the field of Informatics which, at the University of Skövde, is defined as the science of how data, information and knowledge is created, represented and processed by human beings and machines.
The specialization in intelligent data analysis and information fusion refers to methods to analyze and transform information from different sources and times to a form that gives efficient support to human or automatic decision making. The specialization refers to a number of application areas distinguished by large amounts of information forming the foundation for decisions being made, where the information originates from different sources, such as sensors, databases and simulations, and has different degrees of uncertainty and abstraction levels, and where the decisions should be made within given time frames or with limited resources, which prohibits a manual compilation of the information.
