Information Fusion for Decision Support and Human System Interaction in Future Platforms

Project summary

The project will study how information fusion, i.e. synergetic integration of available data and information, can be used to offer advanced decision support for tactical air unit cooperation in future aircraft platforms.

The project will address two main issues:

  • Human System Interaction: Which decisions that are important in chosen scenarios. How these decisions are made in coordination between various cognitive agents in a tactical air unit, i.e. pilots and decision support systems. What information that will be distributed between them and how that should be displayed and controlled.
  • Tactical support with situation analysis: Analysis of threats based on parameters such as proximity, kinematics, identity and ability to act. What will my opponent do next? Given results from the situation analysis suggest ownship and group actions regarding maneuvering and the use of counter measures and weapons. The suggestion shall regard own unit’s ability and intention. What should I do next?

Organization

The project is coordinated by Saab Aeronautics, Linköping, Sweden.

At the University in Skövde, the project is associated to the Information Fusion Research Program, with participants from the Skövde Artificial Intelligence Lab (SAIL) at the Informatics Research Centre (IRC).
