- This is an important quality mark for the University of Skövde and recognition that we are leaders in our research. We are very proud of this candidacy and now we have the opportunity to develop our long-term qualitative research, says Sigbritt Karlsson, Vice-chancellor of the University of Skövde.
Scientific quality
- We are confident that the Knowledge Environment at the University of Skövde will play an important role in helping to strengthen not only the University and companies in the region, but also to strengthen the competitiveness for the whole country of Sweden, said the president of the Foundation, Madelene Sandström. The apparent co-production between companies and researchers in the Knowledge environment is one of the best methods to raise the scientific quality, and create innovation, growth and employment.
First Case
The work of Knowledge Foundation on the Knowledge environments are the Foundation's largest single investment in the new universities by SEK 1.5 billion to search for those who pass the prerequisites. Seventeen universities, all new universities and colleges, were invited to apply. University of Skövde is the first university that meets all the requirements to become a preferred Knowledge Environment. The application from the University of Skövde was approved on the Foundation's most recent board meeting.
Co-production
The purpose of the Knowledge Environment initiative is to build strong skills- and competence environments together with university managements. To qualify, Knowledge Foundation had set up a number of stringent requirements, which the University of Skövde, as the only university in Sweden, now succeeded.
-The fact that the University has a very clear profile within research, our unique quality work from our developed quality systems, and our very close cooperation with industry are the points that the Knowledge Foundation took into consideration when giving us this award, said Lars Niklasson, prorector of the University of Skövde.
Leads to new jobs
A long-term commitment to research means that the quality of the entire University will increase. You must own mandate for development and recruitment of scientists.
- It allows us to combine efforts and more quickly identify the needs that the labor market has. Then we will be able to initiate projects that will ultimately lead to new innovative companies and growth in the already existing ones, concludes Lars Niklasson.
