These courses consist of an independent scientific project in molecular biology or a related area. On undergraduate level (G2F) the project will be a literature study where you review articles on a particular topic. On advanced level, the project should be a laboratory research project and as we have a very limited number of experimental projects you will have to find a place to perform the experimental part of the project. All projects are summarized in a scientific report that is examined.
Course start
Course start is flexible. You can start a project any time if you fulfill the prerequisites, just submit a project proposal. If I find the project proposal I will register you and you can start the project.
Projects
Projects can be either 7.5 or 15 hp and either on undergraduate level G2F or advanced level A1F. You can do the project at your own pace but keep in mind that it should correspond to 5/10 weeks of full-time study.
Different types of projects:
- Literature project
- Laboratory research project (limited number)
- Systems biology modelling project (limited number)
The systems biology modelling projects and the laboratory research projects are performed as a part of a PhD students/institutions/company's research. You will have to contact the PhD student/institution/company yourself about a suitable project and you will get guidance from your external supervisor.
Prerequisites.
For the undergraduate level project you must have passed 90 hp/ECTS in biology or medicine whereof 7.5 hp/ECTS on G2F level. For an advanced level project you need to have passed 180 hp/ECTS (whereof 15 hp/ECTS on advanced level) in biology, medicine or similar subjects.
Registration.
You can register to the course by filling in this form and hand it in/email it together with a project proposal (maximum one A4).
Supervision and examination!
There will be limited supervision and guidance especially during vacations so read these instructions carefully.
The project reports must be submitted to your examiners Urkund-adress after 5/10 weeks of full-time work. The examiners grade the projects according to the following grading criteria.
