"Maryam Kakay Afshari is a medical doctor from Iran who has been studying on the one-year international Masters programme in biomedicine at the University of Skövde since January 2012. She came to Sweden with a very good command of both spoken and written Swedish and has been able to successfully integrate into society. Her high level of motivation is not limited to the Swedish language; she has been able to study and pass all of her programme courses with excellent marks (pass with distinction for all). She is currently engaged in her Masters thesis project under the supervision of Prof. Göran Stenman, Cancer Center, Sahlgrenska Academy. It is important to note that in parallel to her studies, Maryam successfully fulfilled all the requirements for accreditation of her medical degree from Iran into the Swedish medical system and following completion of her Masters degree, she will be able to work as a physician if she so chooses."
