The music/creative practice cluster conducts research in experimental methods of composing, sound design and live performance, as well as finding new and interesting ways to connect music to film, interactive media, computers and narration. Our interest focuses on creating experiences beyond traditional exhibit design including historical sites, museums, galleries and other alternative spaces. We create experimental mixed realities, combining multiple media forms and using elements of technology from computer games, virtual environments and social networks. We articulate our creative practice to research that explores issues like the remediation of cultural heritage, the formation and dynamics of fan cultures, and the relationship between aesthetics, social interaction and narrative contents. We have a particular specialism in the interface of traditional arts practices with computer game technologies.
