Abstract for presentation by Göran Westerlund:
The Digital strategy for Municipality of Alingsås adopted by the municipal council emphasizes the use of open source software and open standards to achieve sustainable digitalization. Sharing solutions and sharing the results of others is therefore a part of everyday life in the municipality. Communities is a common way to organize sharing, development and maintenance of the software. We will look into this matter based on experiences from a municipality perspective. An empirical analysis based both on success stories and less good examples in organizing a community is presented. What do you need to start up a community? What about procurement of open source? How is financing of an open source project shared? What is  key to make open source projects sustainable and how is long-term management handled?
