      Admission Requirements

Prerequisites for this course are the following passed courses: BI119G Introduction to Bioinformatics G1N and BI319G Expression Analysis with R and BI121G Bioinformatic Analysis with Python G1N (or the equivalent). Since the level of progression of the course is G2F the prerequisites are at least 60 credits in one or both of the subjects bioinformatics and bioscience, where the courses above are included.

      Selection

      Guaranteed admission.

      Language

The courses are conducted in English.
Have you already learnt how to program in Python and R, and do you have an interest in how these languages are used in bioinformatics? If so, this course offers an opportunity to develop your ability to write programs that solve bioinformatic analysis problems.

In this course we will present a number of bioinformatic analysis problems. You will then choose one of those problems and independently develop a solution that you will implement using Python and/or R. During the project work you will develop your ability to break donw an analysis problem into logical parts, describe solutions to these parts in the form of pseudocode, and thereby develop algorithms that you will then implement in code.
