      Human-Robot Collaboration using Integrated Virtual Tools

      Even though the manufacturing industry is considered to be highly automated, it still involves a large portion of manual work where human can’t be replaced by robots. These workstations include tasks where human qualities are crucial, for example the ability to make decisions or adapt to changing circumstances. These workstations also include tasks with poor ergonomics or repetitive tasks that are better suited to robots. Through Human-Robot Collaboration, the human can be supported with the strengths of the robot in the same workspace without being separated by physical barriers. This course gives an introduction to Human-Robot Collaboration and how work cells can be developed in virtual environments.

      Learn about Human-Robot collaboration

      The course is centred on how to use virtual tools to create industrial robotic applications where humans and robots share work areas and/or work tasks without physically limiting security barriers. The course also introduces the classification of levels of human-robot collaboration, safety aspects, and analysis tools such as ergonomics and collision analysis. The course involves work with simulation software, as well as practical work in physical environments.

      Who is the course for?

      The target group for this course is engineers and technicians working in the manufacturing industry.

      After completing the course, you will be able to:

      • Identify strengths and limitations of Human-Robot Collaboration
      • Discuss relevant safety and ergonomic aspects regarding Human-Robot Collaboration.
      • Identify industrial application areas and plan, design and evaluate production cells for Human-Robot Collaboration using virtual tools
      • Reflect on ethical and sustainability aspects regarding Human-Robot Collaboration
      • Demonstrate an understanding of practical work with collaborating robots and technical equipment

      Entry requirements:

      The entry requirements for this course are a Bachelor’s degree of at least 180 higher education credits (equivalent to 180 ECTS) within the fields of integrated product development or production engineering or automation engineering or mechanical engineering or information technology or similar, and a minimum of 12 months of documented work experience in a relevant domain.

      If you do not fulfill the higher education requirment, you can apply to be assessed based on work experience alone. You can use the skills description template to describe your work experience.
