      Molecular Biodesign

Congratulations on being admitted to the Molecular Biodesign programme, the first step to your future career! We'll make sure that your curiosity in life sciences is growing even larger, and together we will study how different biomolecules can be designed and produced for different purposes in life sciences.

      Registration

You will need to register for the study programme before the programme starts to keep your place on the study programme. To be able to register you must first activate your user account at konto.his.se

The registration for master and bachelor students admitted via UniversityAdmissions.se is made in person when you arrive in Skövde between August 16–25: his.se/en/education/newly-admitted/registration

      If unable to attend

If you cannot come to the First programme meeting, please contact me via e-mail for another arrangement; otherwise you risk losing your place.

      Programme start

The autumn semester starts on Monday the 28th of August, 2023, and the programme introduction will take place at 10:15 to 15:00 in room E103 (house E).

      What happens this autumn?

The programme starts with taking a broad approach to the field of life sciences. The subject area of the program is introduced in the course "Introduction to Molecular Biodesign" and in "Laboratory basic course" you will also go through the basic training on how to work in our laboratories. In parallel two courses "Basic Chemistry" and "Biological Life Forms and Function" you will be introduced to chemistry and the living world around us. The following study period you will use this knowledge to understand how our cells are constructed and function in the course "Cell Biology".

      Preparations

One of the first courses you will take is Basic chemistry. To be prepared to this course I would recommend you to repeat the following basic mathematical concepts,

      • percentage
      • equations
      • rounding numbers
      • significant figures
      • logarithms

since it will make it easier for you to focus on the chemistry and not calculations.

      Welcome!
