      Production and Automation Engineering

      Production and Automation Engineering

In Production and Automation Engineering, we focus on the development of the next generation of industrial production systems. Transitioning to digital, automated production is the biggest single challenge facing Swedish industry today. It is a process of change that is more or less critical to Sweden’s continued competitiveness. In our research team, one of the ways we are contributing to the future of industry is through our research on the increasing use of simulation tools.

Production and Automation Engineering is a research area that is developing at a high tempo, and this is necessary for Sweden to remain competitive even in the future. Our interdisciplinary research team is conducting research in areas such as mechanics, electronics, computer science and project management.

Great opportunities in an increasingly digitised world

Our research team places particular emphasis on the use of various types of simulation tools in the development process and in the operational phase of a production system. That way, industry can pursue development and conduct testing without needing to invest in unfinished solutions.

      Close collaborations with industry

The current challenges for Swedish industry are strongly linked to its capacity to handle and benefit from these revolutionising changes. That is where we can help, and it is why all our research is done in close collaboration with industry partners. For example, we are a preferred research partner within the Volvo Group’s Academic Partner Program in virtual manufacturing.

      A Selection of Projects

This project is concerned with developing and applying integrated models, concepts, and optimization approaches.
