Introduction to industrial robotics and robot programming. Specifically, the software RobotStudio® is used in the course and the student learns to handle, program, and simulate robots in this virtual environment.

Although robots are spreading to public environments and homes, the largest area of application is still the manufacturing floor of the manufacturing industry.

The number of robots in these industrial environments is growing and the robots are becoming more flexible and independent. At the same time, the market's demands for new and better products at ever-shorter intervals drive a development where the product life cycle becomes ever shorter, which means that robots need to be reprogrammed more and more frequently in order to handle these new products. This means that there is no time to shut down production to introduce reprogramming and testing for new variants and products.

Offline programming and simulation are an effective way to meet this trend. With the professional software RobotStudio® from ABB, robot programming can be done on a PC in the office (offline), without the need to stop production. In this way, you can create and test (simulate) robot programs for upcoming products in advance. In this course you will learn how to use RobotStudio® for programming and simulation of robots.

The robot's control program is generated by RobotStudio® and downloaded to the robot when it is time to start manufacturing the new product. Programming, optimization and training can thus be done in parallel with, and without affecting, ongoing production. This leads to a number of advantages, for example: reduced risks, faster start-up, shorter set times, better documentation of programs made and increased productivity.

In this basic course you will learn the theoretical basics of industrial robotics and how to use the RobotStudio® software to jog / run robots, model details, program and simulate a simpler robot application.

The course is free of charge and open to applicants who are EU citizens.
