Jane Synnergren

Jane Synnergren work as a postdoc  at the University of Skövde, Sweden. She received her MSc in Computer Sciences from the University of Skövde in 2003 and started her graduate studies in bioinformatics in 2006 and graduated in 2010. Her research interest is gene regulatory mechanisms that are important for stem cell differentiation. Working in close collaboration with the stem cell industry, she performs global gene expression studies of human embryonic stem cells during their differentiation towards functional cell types, with a particular focus on heart- and liver-cells. Results from her research have revealed gene expression patterns during the early phases of differentiation with potential importance for determining the fate of the stem cell. Results from recent studies have indicated important roles for miRNAs in the control of diverse aspects of heart formation and cardiac function. Her most recent research has been focused on miRNA expression during cardiac differentiation.
