      The library for distance students

      Distance students have access to books, databases, articles and journals, just like campus students. The difference is that you can have books and articles sent to your home address.

      Library account

      In order to borrow books and request items, you will need a borrower account. You can apply for a borrower account/libray card under My profile at Studentportalen

      Home delivery of books

      As a distance student at the University of Skövde, you can borrow books from the University library, with the exception of course literature and reference books, and have them delivered at home free of charge. Through the University library, you can also borrow books using interlibrary loans from other libraries, with the exception of course literature and reference books. You must, however, pay the return postage when returning the books.

      The library posts books within Sweden. As a distance student living in or close to Skövde, you are expected to visit the University library to collect or return material.

      To order books from the library, please send an email to biblioteket@his.se.

      To order books via interlibrary loans, fill in the form request books and suggest acquisitions following.

      To return your books, please use the following address: Högskolebiblioteket i Skövde, Box 408, 541 28 Skövde.

      Home delivery of articles

      You can order scientific articles that the library does not have in its collections and have home delivery. The library charge is SEK 40:-. If you would like a copy of an article which is available in the library’s physical collections, the charge is SEK 40:-. Articles are always sent in paper form and do not need to be returned.

      The library sends articles within Sweden. As a distance student living in or close to Skövde, you are expected to visit the University library to collect or return material.

      Digital journals and articles

      E-resources such as digital articles and journals can be found in the University’s databases. If you are not within the University’s network, log in with your username and password. If problems occur when logging in to e-resources, please go to Aceessing library resources.

      Online tutoring

      Distance students can be given online tutoring concerning information literacy, for example, information retrieval and academic writing such as writing references. To book online tutoring in information retrieval, please fill in the form for Book a librarian.
