The Board of Governors
The Board of Governors is the university's highest decision-making body. The government appoints the chair of the board of governors and seven board members to represent public interests. The other members of the board are the Vice-Chancellor, three lecturers and three students, all ordinary members. Two staff representatives, or trade union representatives, are permitted to attend and speak at board meetings.
Vice-Chancellor, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and University Director
The Vice-Chancellor is the head of the authority and directs the university’s operations. The Vice-Chancellor’s deputy is the Pro Vice-Chancellor, who steps in when the Vice-Chancellor is unavailable. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor is responsible for collaboration with trade and industry and internationalisation. The University Director is head of support services, which is a shared function of the entire university. Together, the Vice-Chancellor, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and University Director are referred to as the Senior University Officers. Read more about the Senior University Officers.

The Vice-Chancellor’s Management Group
For strategic discussions that help to provide a holistic perspective, including collegial perspectives alongside line and student perspectives. The Management Group is comprised of the Vice-Chancellor, the Pro Vice-Chancellor, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, the University Director, the Director of Planning, the Dean and Pro-Dean of the Faculty Board, each Head of School, and a student union representative.

The Vice-Chancellor's Advisory Board for Line Management Issues
For advice in issues primarily concerning the line management perspective. This advisory board includes the Vice-Chancellor, the Pro Vice-Chancellor, the University Director and each Head of School.
Vice-Chancellor’s Office
Professional administrative and analysis support to the Vice-Chancellor, the Pro Vice-Chancellor, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, the University Director and the Board of Governors is provided by the Vice-Chancellor’s Office. The Vice-Chancellor’s Office answers to the Vice-Chancellor and is managed by the Director of Planning. The Vice-Chancellor’s Office also includes the university’s legal advisor and the registry officer and archivist functions. Read more about the Vice-Chancellor’s Office.
Faculty Board
The university’s collegial body, the Faculty Board, has overall responsibility for ensuring the quality of education and research. The Faculty Board is comprised of the Dean, who is also chair, the Pro-Dean, who is deputy chair, seven teaching board members and three student board members.
