      IMMA

Research Group User Centred Product Design
      Resarch Environment Virtual Engineering

      Quick Facts

      Full project name

      The IMMA project

      Duration

      January 2009 – December 2013

      Funding and collaboration

Innovatum, Saab, Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF), Chalmers University of Technology, Lund University, Scania, Fraunhofer-Chalmers Centre (FCC), Virtual Manufacturing Sweden, Volvo AB, Volvo Car Corporation

The objective of the IMMA project (ProViking/PV09.13) is to develop a path planner tool that finds a collision free and biomechanically acceptable way for a part and the human who is assembling the part, seen as a system.

The aim is to develop a user-friendly, non expert, individual independent, path planner tool which:

      1. finds a collision free way for the part and the human geometry at manual assembly
      2. considers human diversity and minimizes the biomechanical loads and increases assembly quality and efficiencies
      3. reduces the simulations and analyses times with at least 40 procent
      4. is vendor independent, i.e. the tool can communicate with manikins in major ergonomics simulation and visualisation software with minor modifications.
