The course focuses on how genes in our own and other organism´s genome function and are constructed. The course also deals with the methods that are used to study gene function and to cut and paste genes to transfer a trait from one organism to another. Applications in biotechnology are discussed as well as the corresponding ethical concerns. The course also contains a longer laboratory experiment where genetic material will be cloned.
