Worldbuilding is a method in managing elements in a story and their progressive development.

With worldbuilding techniques, the producers of a fictional work can construct a framework for the story world, setting the terms and conditions within which environment, belief systems and characters can interact. Key for making effective worldbuilding is to gather research that supports this framework. Worldbuilding was developed within science fiction and utopia studies and is even now regarded as an important tool with which we can reach into the future – the future development of characters and story-world. During the course we will both analyze and build story-worlds, we will work individually as well as in group to worldbuild according to our own creativity as well as to external demands.
