Virtual Ergonomics and Design – Master’s Programme

Congratulations to being admitted to the Virtual Ergonomics and Design Master’s Programme! We hope this education will serve as the first step in your future career. During your studies we will introduce you core concepts within ergonomics as well as ergonomics simulation and design.

      Registration

You will need to register for the study programme before the programme starts to keep your place on the study programme. To be able to register you must first activate your user account at www.his.se/aktiverakonto.

The registration for master and bachelor students admitted via UniversityAdmissions.se is made in person when the student arrive in Skövde and via Zoom between 24 – 30 August. https://www.his.se/en/education/newly-admitted/registration/#

      If unable to attend

If you cannot come to the First programme meeting, please contact me via e-mail for another arrangement; otherwise you risk losing your place.

      Programme introduction

The autumn semester starts on Monday the 30th August 2021 and the programme introduction will take place at 10:15 to 15:00 in room G116 (house G)

During the programme introduction there will be an attendance check and you will receive some basic information about your programme, about the University and other necessary practical information about your studies. At the start of the programme and during the first introductory week, you will also be welcomed to the University by the Vice-chancellor and other staff who will be there to support you during your studies. You will also get to know the other programme students.

      What happens during the autumn?

The programme starts with courses meant to introduce you important concepts within science, computational intelligence, and industrial systems. This is followed by the course Industrial Ergonomics, which introduces concepts and methods to gives you an overview of the field, and important tools such as an introduction to simulating ergonomics, and the course Systems Thinking.

      Career opportunities

Ergonomics and ergonomics simulations are widely used in multiple sectors, with ergonomics simulations in particular being both a rising field of research and used within industry. The opportunities provided by skills in ergonomics, design, and simulation add to the core skills developed in your basic studies, affording interesting new possibilities within similar fields as your basic studies focused on. Examples include developing new work stations within industry, analysing vehicle ergonomics, supporting product design processes with ergonomics simulations, or working within research.

      Independent studies

University studies mean both great freedom and great responsibility. The schedule for teacher-led teaching often varies from course to course and week to week. You are expected to plan and set up your studies, especially in non-teacher-led time, so that the total study time corresponds to a full-time job. Your studies and study results are very much based on your own responsibility and we at the University do our best to offer you good teaching and a pleasant study atmosphere so that you can succeed and enjoy your studies as well as possible.

      Any questions?

If you have any questions you can always contact me by email. I’m looking forward to seeing you at the programme introduction!

      Ari Kolbeinsson,
      Programme co-ordinator
