"Earth..." outlines three potential and involuted approaches to consider between earth, technology and the human psyche under the rubric or rebus of psychogeophics, defined as the observation of the earth's physical properties, and its interaction with local and astral signal ecologies, on the human psyche.
We explore the emblems and iconography of late medieval alchemy through readings and artistic research. We consider how logical infrastructures are imposed on the earth. At the same time, we examine how the human psyche may already be coded or inscribed by geological forces. From this, we attempt to define a third path, an embedded, cyclical feedback or exchange created by these processes. This path may be best described as the becoming geological.
"Earth: ..." will actively explore the crystalline (triple-sparred) ideas, exchanges and concepts and energies of multiple "earths," the little astral earth that we are becoming, towards the earth that we un/inhabit and change in potentially meaningful ways.
Biography
Martin Howse is occupied with an investigation of the links between the earth (geophysical phenomena), software and the human psyche (psychogeophysics) through the construction of experimental situations (performance, laboratories, walks, and workshops), material art works and texts. He is equally the creator of the skin-driven audio divination noise module, The Dark Interpreter, and the ERD modular synthesizer series.
