Health and wellness
As an employee with us, you are offered a wellness allowance of up to SEK 2,000. You can use this if you for example spend your free time at the gym, enjoy swimming or a massage. It can be used for a variety of activities based on the Tax Agency's guidelines. The university also has a gym on campus that can be used by all employees.
Doctors, behavioral scientists, nurses and physiotherapists/ergonomists work at the University's procured occupational health care and are at the University's disposal. These services are ordered by your boss and the main rule is that the issues and/or problems must be related to your work tasks or your workplace. As an employee with us, you may also be entitled to doctor's visits during paid working hours and may receive compensation for healthcare visits and medicines. As an employee, you can book a first visit to corporate health on your own initiative, after which your boss must approve further visits.
We strongly believe that it is together we are able to move the University forward and therefore your individual competence development is one of our main focus areas. In combination with the University’s goals, your competence development is followed up annually during your staff appraisal meetings. As part of the teaching staff, there are also several different opportunities for development, including the opportunity to apply for promotion, international exchange to one of the University's partner universities, acquisition of educational qualifications and time-limited managerial and leadership assignments within the University.
As a permanent employee in a government agency, you have the right to be on leave to try another government job. The leave is granted for up to two years, on the condition that you have been permanently employed for at least 12 months before (probationary employment is included). The new employment must be a probationary employment or fixed-term employment.
Time off and flexible work hours
The university works actively for a sustainable working life, and your recovery is an important part of that. You are entitled to 28 vacation days as an employee with us. From the year you turn 30, the number of vacation days increases to 31 days and from the year you turn 40, you can use a total of 35 vacation days per year.
Teachers have annual working time, which gives you great opportunities to influence your working time arrangement. For administrative staff, we offer flexible time agreements. As a TA employee (Technical and Administrative Staff), you are covered by the University's working time reductions, which are more far-reaching than the government agreement.
Insurance and pension
It is important to us that you feel safe at work and as an employee of the University you are covered by our insurance if, for example, you are injured at work or become ill.

Parental leave allowance
If you are on parental leave, the University pays a supplementary allowance in addition to that from the Social Insurance Agency (“Försäkringskassan”) so that you receive 90 % of your salary during most of the leave, this applies regardless of how long you have been employed.
Leadership at the University
We care about our leaders and managers. We welcome both you who have previous managerial experience and you who are stepping into the position for the first time. As head of the University, we want your leadership to be imbued with caring, professional and close leadership. The university offers a well-planned and broad introductory package and internal lectures and seminars take place on an ongoing basis. Through occupational health care and external consultants, there is the opportunity for specific efforts for both the individual manager and management groups.
Agreements and salary
At the University of Skövde, individual salary agreements applied for our staff, except for doctoral students whose salary follows a salary scale. The location for the job is Skövde.
The collective agreements that are applied:
Equality and equal rights
Did you know that the University is at the forefront when it comes to working for equality integration and equal rights for all our employees and students?
Equal rights is a collective term for the University's work with equality, gender, ethnic and religious diversity, accessibility and participation for people with disabilities, sexual equality and for equal treatment regardless of age or gender identity/expression. Our driving force is that the University should be inclusive and welcoming to everyone who comes into contact with us.
For many years, we have worked to integrate these issues into our daily work and today have an established collaboration that spans the entire University with good results and we increase awareness every day.
Travel sustainably with Västtrafik
This benefit is for you who travel by public transport within Skövde municipality or commute from other parts of the Västra Götaland region. As an employee at the University, you have, as a staff benefit, the opportunity to buy a 365-day period ticket for travel with Västtrafik in installments over 12 months at a favorable price. The offer applies to you who are permanently employed or employed for at least one year from the date your period ticket is activated.
The benefit is deducted after tax and is not taxable. In practice, this means that you get the opportunity to buy a period ticket for 365 days in installments, which gives a lower monthly cost than if you were to buy a period ticket for 30 days each month.
