The study aims to investigate experiences of working with young individuals who are victims of sugar dating, sexual violence, and related vulnerabilities.
Sugar dating is a phenomenon where young individuals may engage in relationships with older individuals who offer economic benefits such as gifts, trips, or dinners.
This dynamic can create power imbalances and lead to exploitation, increasing the risk of sexual violence. Through interviews with professionals working with young people, the study explores their experiences in identifying signs of sugar dating and sexual violence.
The project highlights key power dynamics such as gender, age, functionality, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status, and examines how these factors influence young people's sexuality, relationships, and self-esteem.
The findings from the study can contribute to the development and implementation of methods to identify and support young individuals who are at risk of or are victims of sugar dating and sexual violence.
