      Quick Facts

      Full project name

COLLARIS Network: COLLaborative network on unmanned AeRIal Systems 2

      Duration

      January 2025 – December 2026

      Funding and collaboration

EU, The Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM), Disaster Competence Network Austria, Entente pour la forêt Méditerranéenne, Kentro Meleton Asfaleias, Ministry of interior Cyprus, Netherlands Institute of Public Safety, The Space Research Centre of the Polish Academy of Science, University of Cyprus

Drones are playing an increasingly important role in crisis management and are used by authorities, volunteer organisations, and researchers. To ensure effective collaboration, common operational procedures are needed.

Drones can be used to significantly increase efficiency of operations during almost every type of crisis situation that might arise across Europe and they can be applied in every phase of crisis management. Drones become more and more spread, not only among "professional” civil protection and crisis management actors, but even among non-public first-responders, voluntary organisations and even scientific entities.

With so many drones and actors coming to the scene, there is a need to establish clear operational routines for collaboration between drones.

In Collaris2 best practice will be gathered through trials in four different countries and the development of virtual training scenarios and an open online course.
