Many organizations develop their working methods and services through digitalisation, but few are part of a change process that is as extensive and complex as the introduction of "Framtidens Vårdinformationsmiljö (FVM)" in Västra-Götaland.
To study FVM's development and implementation requires a well-thought-out focus. The project proposal is to focus o n a department within VGR, Sahlgrenska Universitetssjukhus (SU) and one of the municipal ities, Lerums municipality (LK) and a sub-challenge in the digital transformation: to agree on uniform and standardized working methods.
The project aims to develop scientific knowledge about challenges in leading and organizing for standardization in digital transformation and contributing to the successful development, communication and implementation of uniform working methods in FVM.
In concrete terms, this means discovering new strategies for how the competing logics of standardization and customization can be combined in the development of digitally based working methods; and how in terms of communication a balance can be found between explaining the benefits of standardization in a simple way, without reducing the inherent complexity.
The project group has pilot tested the intended research strategy for the project and based on these experiences refined the research design. In consultation with LK and SU, a limited number (6 to 8) case studies will be selected and studied in depth for a longer period of time. Half of them will study digitally based working methods and half of them will focus on roles in the change organization. In this way, the study object ”to lead and organize for standardization in FVM” is studied from different angles.
