The mission of the Software Systems Research Group (SSRG) is to advance theory and practice in socio-technical issues in the use and development of software systems. Its remit encompasses methods, models and tools for all stages of the software systems life-cycle.
Our research is focused on: distributed, open source and inner source development processes; software development assets and asset interchange; open architectures and open standards.
We have an ongoing collaboration with several internationally leading research groups in the area of Software Systems and Open Source, and one of its members is also a founder of the academic working group on “Open Source Software”, as defined by IFIP: Information Federation for Information Processing, in IFIP Working Group 2.13 (http://ifipwg213.org/).
Further, SSRG has established strong links with the Swedish and European Open Source Industry, as one of its members is the founding and acting chair of the Swedish industrial Open Source association, Open Source Sweden (http://www.opensourcesweden.org/) and also a fellow in Open Forum Academy (http://www.openforumacademy.org), which is an international think tank with a broad aim to examine openness in computing.
