      Quick Facts

      Full project name

The language of well-being: Does emotional language use reflect mental health?

      Duration

      January 2022 – Ongoing

      Funding and collaboration

      University of Turku

The project aims to elucidate the relationship between mental health and emotional language use (ELU) when people describe their spontaneous experiences.

Specifically, the first three experiments investigate the relationship between ELU and well-being, emotion regulation, and alexithymia. Study 4 will explore whether ELU can be used as a measure reflecting the effectiveness of a well-being intervention and related changes in well-being. Lastly, Study 5 seeks to examine the neural underpinnings of ELU in relation to emotion regulation.

This is the PhD project of Nanna Strid (University of Turku), supervised by Dr. Pilleriin Sikka and professor Antti Revonsuo.
