      Automated Analysis of Production Systems

Research Group Production and Automation Engineering
      Resarch Environment Virtual Engineering

      Quick Facts

      Full project name

Production systems analysis and decision support using simulation based multi-objective optimization

      Duration

      December 2012 – March 2018

      Funding and collaboration

      Volvo Cars

Even successful industrial production often has areas for improvement—and bottlenecks that cause delays. But which improvement actually has the greatest impact? In his research, Jacob Bernedixen aims to automate and optimise a model that identifies which improvement will benefit the company the most.

      Enabling Effective Performance Improvement

The overall aim of this research is to enable effective performance improvement for real or future complex production systems. This will be achieved by exploring and validating new, more effective, and precise methods for identifying areas within the production system that limit its performance. The hypothesis behind this goal is that existing methods for locating such areas do not suggest effective improvement actions, particularly in complex, real-world production systems.

This work is partially funded by Volvo Cars and will be carried out in close collaboration with them.
