Improved aircraft engine maintenance optimization using classification of on-condition parts

The research focuses on improving remaining lifespan estimates for on-condition components in aircraft engines.

Maintenance of an aircraft engine typically accounts for 10–20% of the total operational costs of an aircraft. To optimize maintenance planning, GKN Aerospace Engine Systems intends to implement an existing maintenance optimization algorithm to determine which components should be replaced and when.
