The purpose of this strategic project is to advance research and education within artificial intelligence Lab (SAIL), thereby strengthening scientific excellence in data science (DS) as a core research area.

Focus on Machine Learning

With a particular focus on machine learning (ML), the project addresses the growing need for advanced expertise in this field and responds to increasing demand for knowledge and competence across both academia and industry.

Strengthening Existing Research Environments

The project is designed to meet the rising interest in AI-driven research and education and to both complement and further deepen existing strengths in data science.

The project was initiated within the framework of the INFINIT initiative and has since continued to develop and strengthen the university’s capacity in data science and artificial intelligence even after the conclusion of the programme.

Emphasis on Explainable AI

The project is framed within explainable artificial intelligence (XAI), with emphasis on transparent and trustworthy decision support.

Key areas of interest include advanced analytics as well as the usefulness and usability of ML, such as developing methods that are more adaptive, interactive, contextual, and automated.
