When healthcare faces an ageing population, increasing demands and new treatment methods, more advanced decision support is needed. Through continued collaboration between the Västra Götaland Region and the University of Skövde, simulation will be used as a decision support tool to evaluate future strategies before they are implemented in reality.
How is healthcare to meet the challenges of the future when the population is ageing, needs are increasing, and new treatment options are constantly being developed? In order to plan long-term and make better decisions, we need tools that make it possible to understand complex relationships and foresee the consequences of different strategic choices.
Therefore, since early 2024, the Västra Götaland Region and the University of Skövde have embarked on a long-term collaboration to introduce simulation as a decision support tool in health and medical care.
With the help of simulation models, we can create future scenarios and test different strategies before they are implemented in reality.
The project runs from 2025 to 2028 and combines research, education and practical benefit to build the Västra Götaland Region's capacity to independently use simulation as strategic decision support. The aim is to provide decision-makers with a better basis for designing healthcare systems that are both sustainable and safe for the residents of Västra Götaland.
The goal is to provide decision-makers with better knowledge to build healthcare that is both sustainable and reliable for the inhabitants of Västra Götaland.
