About the programme
The EU programme Interreg Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak invests in cross-border projects that solve common societal challenges in southern Scandinavia. Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak stretches over 14 Danish, Swedish, and Norwegian regions.
The projects work to solve societal challenges within four thematic areas: Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Green Transition, Transport and Mobility and Borderless Labour Market. Through Interreg, a development that drives change for companies, municipalities, regions, and countries is emphasized. A change that also benefits Europe and the world, but which above all contributes to a better life for the people living in southern Scandinavia.
The Game Tech Academy project has applied for funding within the thematic area of Innovation and Entrepreneurship and is running from January 2024 to December 2026. The project’s partners are located in the regions Skåne and Västra Götaland in Sweden and Midtjylland and Nordjylland in Denmark.
Interreg Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak’s motto is: We cross the border. Read more and find further projects on Interreg Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak (external link).
About the project
By developing the competencies of key stakeholders in the support system for future professionals and entrepreneurs, the project enhances game technology skills among researchers, students, and employees, with the goal of placing Scandinavia as a leader in the smart specialization area of ICT and digitalization.
This smart specialization area has been identified as a strategic strength for all participating regions. Furthermore, animation, film, and games are mentioned as one of the most promising industries across regions.
The project builds upon two previous Game Hub Scandinavia projects, where the partners gained a deep understanding of the ecosystem surrounding the gaming industry and established a solid foundation for further work on technology dissemination. Building upon this foundation, Game Tech Academy aims to develop, test, and implement various competence-enhancing meeting places within two areas of the support system: the education system and innovation environments.
