      Students from Skövde received diplomas from the Swedish Institute

      On Saturday 27 May, the Swedish Institute (SI) hosted a ceremony in Stockholm to celebrate graduating SI scholarship holders. Six international students from the University of Skövde attended the festivities and received their diploma from Madeleine Sjöstedt, Director-general at the Swedish Institute.

      Suud Abdushkur Ahmed, Mohammad Nazibul Haque, Mehdi Bitioui M'rabet, Sohunda Abela, Muhammad Abbas Khan Abbasi and Marwa Abdelhalem.

      The Swedish Institute hosted the beautiful SI Diploma Ceremony at the historic Blå Hallen (Blue Hall) at Stockholm City Hall on 27 May. The annual event celebrates the achievements of graduating SI scholarship holders.

      “It was a wonderful night filled with joy, music, delicious food and inspirational speeches. The diploma ceremony marks the beginning of the SI scholarship holders’ lifelong membership in the SI Alumni Network,” says Andrea Diao Jonsson, International Coordinator at the University of Skövde.

      Students from more than 40 different countries were honoured during the ceremony. From the University of Skövde, the master’s students Marwa Abdelhalem (Egypt), Mehdi Bitioui M'rabet (Morocco), Mohammad Nazibul Haque (Bangladesh), Muhammad Abbas Khan Abbasi (Pakistan), Sohunda Abela (Sudan) and Suud Abdushkur Ahmed (Ethiopia) received their diplomas from Madeleine Sjöstedt, Director-general at the Swedish Institute.

      “All were thrilled and certainly will never forget this memorable event,” says Andrea Diao Jonsson.

      Going to travel abroad

      Sohunda Abela, who is graduating from the Molecular Biotechnology Master’s Programme has shared her future plans after graduation with us. She has received a scholarship from the University and the Municipality of Skövde to travel abroad.

      “I am very grateful to the University administration and the municipality for giving me this scholarship grant. I am planning to travel to Germany for an internship and attend a conference there. I also hope to get a job in Sweden, because I love this country.”
