The main theme of the week for the INGENUM Senior Summer School was “Healthy body, healthy campus: Building a sustainable INGENIUM future.”
Wilson Jimmy Tuyishime applied for the INGENIUM Senior Summer School since he is passionate about sustainability and wanted to learn more about practical application of waste management and biodiversity on campuses.

INGENIUMs own Olympic Games
Each year INGENIUM University arranges both Summer and Winter Schools for both students and staff. The Senior Summer School for master’s students and PhD students was at the University de Rouen Normandie. Since France is arranging the Summer Olympic Game this year the host university in Rouen had decided do echo the games, and having INGENIUMs own Olympic Games on campus.
“The program focused on how we can create sustainable and healthy campus environments through effective waste management and promoting biodiversity. It included a mix of lectures, workshops, cultural activities, and an Olympic tournament, all designed to foster collaboration and innovation among the participants”, explains Wilson Jimmy Tuyishime.
Why is it important with these short exchanges/possibilities to go away for a week and meet students from all over Europe?
“Short exchanges like this are crucial as they offer a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in different cultures, share knowledge, and learn from the experiences of others. Meeting students from all over Europe fosters cross-cultural understanding and collaboration, which is essential in today’s interconnected world. These experiences also help in building a global network, which can be invaluable for personal and professional growth”, says Wilson Jimmy Tuyishime
What was the most important experience you brought back with you?
“The most important experience I brought back home was the collaborative approach to solving sustainability issues. Working with students from diverse backgrounds on practical projects like waste management and biodiversity, and also for sports activities on campus taught me the value of teamwork, different perspectives, and innovative thinking. This experience has inspired me to implement similar sustainable practices and foster a collaborative environment in my own academic and professional settings”, says Wilson Jimmy Tuyishime.
