During the University of Skövde's Academic Ceremony, the University's pedagogical award is presented. This year's award winner is Katrin Dannberg, Lecturer in Media Arts, Aesthetics and Narration. She receives the award for, among other things, having been a driving force in creating collegial collaboration within the University's Game Development Programmes.
For the third time, the University of Skövde is presenting its pedagogical award. The purpose of the award is to recognise an employee who has contributed in an outstanding way to the pedagogical development of the University's education. This year, the award goes to Katrin Dannberg, at the School of Informatics.
How does it feel to receive the University's pedagogical award?
“I am very happy and grateful for the award, but I am just as happy about the nomination itself. That there is a colleague who has taken the time to write a motivation, and who has thought of a fellow colleague.”
Katrin Dannberg has worked at the University of Skövde since 2001. For several years she worked with communication and marketing, but since 2008 she has worked with Game Development education, mainly the Game Art programme. She received much attention for the innovation project Studio Ludum, for which she was project manager from 2018-2021. Studio Ludum focused on the NEET-group (young persons not engaged in education, employment or training), who also had an interest in games. The project researched how the positive force in their gaming interest could help them complete their studies and find their place in society.
“My driving force is diversity and inclusion, from different perspectives. Whether it is about including colleagues or students, everything is based on that.”
How do you use pedagogy in your work?
“In teaching, of course, but also in meetings with external parties, including everything from welcoming visitors to the School to reporting on results from projects and research.”
It is the University's employees who nominate and the faculty board that decides on the winner. The award consists of a diploma and prize money. Katrin Dannberg will receive her award during the University's Academic Ceremony in St. Helena's Church in Skövde, on March 21.
Motivation
Katrin contributes in various ways to improve and strengthen the collegial cooperation at the Division of Game Development.
During the spring semester of 2023 Katrin was the driving force to start up the Collegiate Education Forum (KUF) at the Division. The KUF has led to the establishing of common approaches, where "tough" issues can be openly discussed between teachers, Division Heads and Subject Coordinators. After the restructuring of the Game Development educations, this collegial initiative has been particularly important in strengthening the pedagogical view at the Division.
Katrin is also actively working to ensure that the classrooms used in all Game Development programmes are reviewed and adapted to the pedagogical needs of the teachers and students.
The University of Skövde would like to recognise Katrin Dannberg's contribution to collegial collaboration and to strengthen the pedagogical consensus at the Division of Game Development at the School of Informatics.
