Four students from the University of Skövde participated in a short exchange program in Crete. One of them was Ogochukwu Joy Uzoegbunam and now she strongly encourages other students to do the same. "I knew it was an opportunity I couldn’t miss," she says.
As a member of the INGENIUM European University, the University of Skövde provides students with outstanding mobility opportunities. The University can offer both short- and long-term exchanges with the nine partner universities within the Alliance. When Ogochukwu Joy Uzoegbunam heard about the Blended Intensive Programme, BIP, focused on sustainable development and corporate responsibility, she did not give it a second thought.
"From the moment I learned about the programme, I knew it was an opportunity I couldn’t miss. I have a passion for topics concerning sustainable development and a drive to deepen my knowledge," says Joy who studies the Master’s programme in Business Development and Marketing.
From Skövde to Crete
The University of Crete is a partner within INGENIUM and responsible for this BIP. The BIP was a course consisting of two online parts and a five-day onsite session in Heraklion, Crete. During the onsite sessions, the students got to participate in very engaging sessions.
"I found the one on Contemporary Sustainable Development Challenges and the Role of Business particularly impactful. The discussion about the “Business as Usual” context and its connection to value propositions in business was especially insightful and thought-provoking."
What do you consider the most rewarding part of the week?
"Every day of the week stood out for me, as it was filled with opportunities to learn, network, and immerse myself in cultural experiences. Engaging with students from across Europe, each bringing their unique perspectives, added immense value to the experience. The most rewarding part of the week was the visit to the National Museum in Crete where we attended a lecture about climate change and climate-smart conservation management. The museum also showcased breath-taking artistic creations and natural exhibits. That day we also decided to visit the Art Gallery in Heraklion and these visits remain etched in my memory."
Ogochukwu Joy Uzoegbunam also mentions the hospitality from the University of Crete during the week and how it all was well arranged for the students taking part in the mobility.
Would you recommend students to take part in mobilities?
"Absolutely! I strongly encourage it! It’s a transformative experience that combines deep learning with impactful networking and cultural exposure. The programme provides a surreal and enriching environment for personal and professional growth."
